“Nice shot” – Conor McGregor SHOCKINGLY praises Nate Diaz after his altercation with his buddy Dillon Danis at UFC 281
Conor McGregor, Nate Diaz, and Dillon Danis
Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz have shared an intense rivalry since their first fight at UFC 196. Conor jumped two weight divisions to fight Nate at that event, albeit in a losing effort. The two then ran it back 5 months later at UFC 202. This time Conor McGregor beat Diaz and acknowledged how tough he was. Despite this, their rivalry would continue to simmer with rumors of a third fight.
Nate Diaz, who is always ready to fight, was recently involved in an altercation at UFC’s MSG show, UFC 281. This would be Nate’s second brawl in a month as he previously started another altercation at the Jake Paul vs Anderson Silva fight. This time, the person fighting with Nate was Conor’s friend and Bellator fighter, Dillon Danis. The origins of the altercation are still unclear.
However, The Notorious has reacted to this brawl between his former foe and his friend. He shared a video of the fight on his Twitter handle. The video chronicled Diaz delivering one of his signatures Stockton Slaps to Danis’ friend after he continued to provoke him. Conor seemed to praise Nate for the hit as he captioned the Tweet, “Haha nice shot.”
McGregor’s fierce loyalty became a big talking point during his fight against Khabib Nurmagomedov. Khabib allegedly slapped Conor’s friend Artem Lobov. In retaliation, The Notorious threw a doily at the bus that Khabib’s team was on, causing some injuries and a felony charge which he later plead out of. However, this time it would seem as if Conor got a kick out of the UFC legend hitting Danis’ friend.
Will Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz fight for the 3rd time?
With their record against each other at 1 win apiece, there is still buzz and excitement for a third installment in the McGregor-Diaz rivalry. The first fight and the callout that led to it have become an iconic moment in UFC history. Many fighters have modeled their callouts after the one delivered by Diaz.
After submitting Conor in the second round, Nate Diaz became the first person in the UFC to beat and finish Conor McGregor at UFC 196. However, Conor would have his revenge in the rematch at UFC 202 which was a war for the ages. He defeated Nate by decision in a dogfight that went the distance. Such an interesting chain of events spurred interest in a trilogy fight which, as of 2022, is yet to happen.
Although, two months ago, in an interview with InsideFighting, Nate Diaz did confirm that a third fight between the two superstars would eventually happen. “The timing is not on right now. We’ll worry about that later, that’s for sure gonna happen at some point…When we’re gonna matchup, we’re gonna matchup. We ain’t goin’ nowhere.”
