Twitter exploded after Aljamain Sterling successfully defended his bantamweight title at UFC 288. “Funk Master” defeated former champion Henry Cejudo via split decision at the Prudential Center in New Jersey. Cejudo did not look like his former self and Irish superstar Conor McGregor blasted Cejudo for his performance on Twitter.
The title fight was closely contested, but Sterling did enough to retain the title. Aljamain Sterling surprised everyone when he started taking down the Olympic gold medalist in wrestling. Cejudo made an unsuccessful return to the UFC after three years away from the sport. In his absence, he critiqued McGregor’s fighting style and approach. However, Conor McGregor came for revenge after UFC 288.
Conor McGregor kept himself busy watching the stream of UFC 288. He commented about the co-main event fight between Belal Muhammad and Gilbert Burns. Champion Sterling needed the victory to shut out all his doubters. Sterling fought a methodical fight in the title bout and came out victorious after five rounds of action.
Sterling becomes the second man to defend the bantamweight title three times and the first to have three consecutive title defenses. Conversely, Cejudo indicated that he only wants to fight to better his legacy. However, after a loss like this, he did not know what his future would look like.

He continued, “Good little fighter is Henry, but give it a rest with these agendas all the time. The guy is sub 20 fights in his career. His little feints an all ahaha omg, please teach me mastermind lol. Done the splits like a stripper and got dumped on his a** he did hahaha.“
