Curtis Blaydes derailed the Jailton Almeida hype train at UFC 299 in the main event of prelims. After he lost the first round due to Alemeida’s impressive grappling, Blaydes knocked out Almeida with hammer fists. Blaydes bounced back from his knockout loss to Sergei Pavlovich with the victory.

In the post-fight press conference, a reporter asked an interesting question about Blaydes walkout music. Blaydes walked out to listen to Mortal Kombat’s theme music, which a reporter found fascinating. The reporter asked about it, and this is what Blaydes said in reply:

I've been using that since I was an (amateur), so 15 years now. I won't ever use anything else; it's what gets me going.

Blaydes’ walkout music was impressive, but the walkouts of Michel Perreira and Michael Venom Page were even more impressive. Page walked out like WWE’s Undertaker with the professional wrestler’s music. Perreira danced his way with one of his corners in the walkout. Interestingly, all three fighters won their respective fights at UFC 299.

Curtis Blaydes reviews his performance at UFC 299

Curtis Blaydes was in high spirits at the UFC 299 post-fight press conference after the come-from-behind victory over Jailton Almeida. Blaydes stated that he and his team expected what Almeida would do inside the octagon. He praised Almeida’s performance in round 1, but Blaydes cited that it was the reason the Brazilian lost energy in round 2.

Funnily enough, Blaydes cited that his big neck disallowed Almeida from getting a submission. Moreover, Blaydes did not put him in a position for Almeida to get a submission. Blaydes’ coach told him he could defeat Almeida by frustrating him and evading submissions. Moreover, he also revealed that his team had simulated the finishing sequence in training camp.

Blaydes is the only fighter to have a victory against Tom Aspinall, the current UFC interim heavyweight champion. As such, he demanded a rematch against Aspinall in London. Moreover, he said he would not fight Ciryl Gane as he had ducked him multiple times. Aspinall lost to Blaydes as he suffered a knee injury in the first round of the fight. After the event, Aspinall and Blaydes celebrated inside a bar in London.
