Curtis Blaydes and Ciryl Gane‘s fight may not happen at all. After challenging Gane multiple times to fight, Curtis Blaydes has finally moved on from Cyril Cane as a prospective opponent. He made this clear at the UFC 299 post-fight press conference. Here is what happened:
Curtis Blaydes secured a quick second-round victory at UFC 299. At the press conference, a reporter asked Blaydes about his plans if Tom Aspinall decides to wait before he fights him. To this, Blaydes replied: “I feel like you guys are trying to edge me towards Gane. That’s not happening. I asked for him already in the past. He missed that bus. So, if it’s not Aspinall, we’ll figure it out. I’m not going to make no concrete decisions right now, because I don’t know what’s going on. It’s ain’t going to be Gane, though. That’s a no”.
Blaydes has challenged Gane to a fight multiple times, but Gane never accepted. The first time Blaydes challenged Gane was in 2021 after Blaydes defeated Jairzinho Rozenstruik. However, Gane declined the fight, saying that he wanted to fight someone else. Blaydes challenged Gane again in 2022 after Gane defeated Tai Tuivasa. However, Gane again declined the fight again.
Curtis Blaydes declared that if Tom Aspinall waits to challenge the winner of Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic, he will have to figure something out. But he will not give Gane another opportunity to fight him again. However, it looks like Blaydes may not have to wait long. Tom Aspinall recently took to X where he declared that he is ready to take on Blaydes for a fight.
Curtis Blaydes beat Jailton Almeida at UFC 299
Curtis Blaydes defeated Jailton Almeida in the second round at the UFC 299 prelims. Almeida worked Blaydes in the first round. He grappled Blaydes and took him down in the first round. However, Blaydes worked up to his knee. Almeida even managed to get Blaydes’ back. However, he could not secure a choke.

The second round turned out to be completely different for Almeida. He shot for another early takedown, but Blaydes defended it and began showering shots at Almeida. Ultimately Blaydes ended the fight with a KO within forty seconds of the second round.
Curtis Blaydes ranks #5 in the UFC heavyweight rankings. Now that Tom Aspinall is open to fighting Curtis Blaydes, it will be interesting to see what is next for the heavyweight contender.
