Charles Oliveira emotional while Dana White wraps the belt around him
Dana White confirms Charles Oliveira getting PPV points despite him no longer being the UFC lightweight champion as a result of his failure to make weight prior to UFC 274 last month, but it is predicted that he will take another shot at the title in his future bout. If Oliveira had his way, Conor McGregor would face him for the vacant championship. In the lightweight division of the UFC, Makhachev is 10-1 and has triumphed in his previous 10 fights. He TKO’d Bobby Green in a last-minute catchweight battle this year. The year before, he submitted Dan Hooker, Thiago Moises, and Drew Dober.
When asked about Islam, Olivera stated, “I’ve never ran from a fight and the lightweight champion is called Charles Oliveira. Is Islam a very tough guy? Yep. Did he fight big names? No. He’s on a big streak, but who did he fight?”
When Charles misplaced his belt before his bout with Justin Gaethje at UFC 274, many people were incensed. The 155-pound UFC title is currently vacant, and Charles Oliveira is the top contender.

Despite losing the championship, Dana promised that Oliveira would still receive his pay-per-view share from UFC 274. Although the division doesn’t officially have a champion, it appears that the Brazilian will profit from his match at UFC 280 through pay-per-view. He stated, “We tried to make that other, the Dariush fight, broke his ankle… that fight makes sense in Abu Dhabi. Everybody wanted to do it, I think everybody wanted to see it, so here we are.” When asked regarding Charles getting PPV points, he stated, “Yeah, yeah, I think he does. I mean, he’s the champ, but technically he’s not the champ.”
