The ongoing feud between Dana White and Stephen Espinoza, the President of Showtime Sports, has escalated once again. White responded to reports of Showtime Boxing’s impending shutdown in 2024 with a barrage of criticism. He openly ridiculed their product and expressed his satisfaction at the news.
During a recent pre-fight press conference, Espinoza drew comparisons between the live gates of Showtime Boxing and those of the UFC. He confidently declared, “This event on Saturday night will generate a gate of over $20 million”. Espinoza claimed they achieved this feat three times in the past six months. To put it into perspective, Espinoza compared it with the UFC. He claimed that the MMA promotion has never managed to reach a $20 million gate in its entire history.
Dana White wasted no time in continuing his critique of Showtime’s production quality. He asserted that the success of boxing had nothing to do with Espinoza. Borrowing from Conor McGregor‘s taunts at Espinoza during his showdown with Floyd Mayweather, Dana stated, “That’s exactly the type of response I would expect from that weasel Espinoza”. He stated that Espinoza had absolutely no role in the success of fighters like Canelo Alvarez, Ryan Garcia, and Terrence Crawford. “Those guys are megastars and they are the ones responsible for driving the gates in their fights,” he said. “For him to even try and take any credit at all shows you exactly what an arrogant, delusional POS that guy is.”
White derisively dismissed Espinoza’s talk of “levels” and didn’t mince words when assessing Showtime’s production. The UFC CEO labeled it as an “embarrassment.” He characterized Espinoza as a small figure with a majestic presence and accused him of being a complete fraud. White expressed little surprise at Showtime’s impending closure. He remarked that it should have occurred much sooner, and bid Espinoza a sarcastic farewell.

Why did Conor Mcgregor call Stephen Espinoza a weasel?
Back in 2017, Conor McGregor found himself in yet another feud against Showtime’s Stephen Espinoza. This was during the much-anticipated bout between Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather. During one of the media events, McGregor’s microphone suddenly fell silent, setting the stage for a heated confrontation.
McGregor did not take this interruption lightly. In the midst of the event, he unleashed his verbal jabs at Espinoza. McGregor called him a “f*ing weasel” and “a fing b**ch” among other things.
Fast forward a few years, McGregor found himself barred from attending the Gervonta Davis vs. Ryan Garcia fight. It was revealed by his old sparring partner and rival, Paulie Malignaggi, that McGregor had to make amends with Espinoza to secure tickets. Malignaggi claimed that Conor McGregor had no choice but to extend his apology just to secure his presence at the event.
