UFC 274 has wrapped up and with all the drama before the event, UFC 274 was guaranteed to be a banger. The UFC president Dana white discussed stripping Charles Oliveira from his Lightweight title and expressed his grief about the incident. Charles Oliveira has defeated Justin Gaethje and proved that he is one of the greatest lightweights in the world.

Charles defeated Justin in the 3rd minute of the opening round via rear-naked choke. While Justin dropped Charles two times, Charles eventually got a hold of Justin and his ground game was too much to handle for Justin. While Charles might not be the official lightweight champion, he has proved why he is certainly the best lightweight on the planet.

Oliveira has extended his winning streak to 11 and has finished Gaethje, Dustin Poirier, Michael Chandler, Kevin Lee, and many others during that stretch.

Charles has been stripped of his Lightweight title but is now the number 1 contender for the belt and he will fight for the belt in his next outing. Talking about Charles’ victory and the vacant lightweight belt, Dana White told in the post-fight interview that Charles is definitely the uncrowned champion, but unfortunately, rules are rules.

Dana said: “He didn’t make weight. We have rules. He didn’t make the weight. The belt is vacant but I’m sure in the minds of the media and the fight fans, Oliveira is the champion. But technically, he is the number one contender now.”

Oliveira became the first guy to be stripped of his title because of not making weight, however, speculations are that the scale provided to the fighters before the weigh-in was actually faculty and because of this Charles could not make weight for UFC 274. Oliveira tipped the scales at 155.5, .5 pounds over the 155-pound championship limit on his first attempt. Oliveira had one hour to shed the weight. Oliveira came back a second time and weighed the same.

Watch the post-fight interview:

According to Oliveira, When he stepped on the scale provided to them at the hotel it showed his weight at 155 pounds, but when he stepped on the official scale, he came out to be 0.5 pounds heavier.

Reacting to this, Dana White, in his post-fight interview, told: “It’s a nightmare. It is a nightmare. We were just talking about it in the back. We have this issue where guys come out and check the scale the night before. Guys from Europe and other parts of the world do kilos, so start f****** with the scales.

He added, “Who knows? There’s so many moving parts to this beast of a machine that we run. We have to have a security guard with the scalers now. Listen, Oliveira is the guy, but he didn’t make weight and we have rules.

As UFC 274 has ended, Dana White has confirmed that Charles has been stripped of his belt, and he is now the number 1 contender for the lightweight belt. Charles will now face a fighter for the Lightweight title in his next fight in the future.
