UFC CEO Dana White is politically centrist. However, he has a close friendship with former US President Donald Trump. White appeared on the podcast of Vivek Ramaswamy where he delved into his life from the beginning to now. White had high praise for the UAE royal family on the podcast. He also revealed the surprisingly big income of Jim Miller and also the controversy concerning Sean Strickland at UFC 297.
On the podcast, White also spoke very highly of his mentor, who taught him everything he knows till today. This is what White said about how he met his mentor and learned about the fight business on Ramaswamy’s The TRUTH podcast.
There was this guy in town, his name was Peter Welch, and he was a fighting legend, street and boxing. I approached him and I said, 'I know you don't know me, and I know this is weird, but I want to learn everything that you can teach me about the fight game. I'll work for free.'... He took me in, yeah, and he was my college, he was my Sensei, he was my whatever you want to call it. That's what he was to me. And that's why I'm sitting here today, because I sought him out, he said yes, and I learned everything from him.Dana White via Truth Podcast
Interestingly, Peter Welch’s wife was suspicious of Dana White at the time due to him offering to work for free. Due to the illegal activities that Welch did at the time, his wife thought White was a federal agent. This was the time when gangsters like James “Whitey” Bulgar had control over the Boston neighborhood. White would have to leave Boston for Las Vegas later after one of Bulgar’s associates Kevin Weeks threatened White.
Dana White is still very close to Peter Welch, who now operates a gym in Boston, Peter Welch’s Gym. His son, Peter Welch Jr. won the 2023 New England Championships in the 156lb category. Welch Sr. was in the corner of his son through the championship.
Dana White blames the media and politicians for weakening U.S.A.
UFC CEO Dana White is a self-described patriotic man. He has recently spoken of his fear of the strength and toughness of the present generation in the U.S.A. White even said that people from other countries are tougher and even hilariously stated that Team Khabib Nurmagomedov could take over the U.S.A if they wanted to.
On the podcast with Vivek Ramaswamy, White blamed the media and the politicians as the sole reason for this. White is a proponent of free speech and is against the woke mob and cancel culture. Ramaswamy also agreed with White’s assessment. He criticized the media and politicians for spreading lies.
White is a fan of the late US President Ronald Reagan and has more than often quoted the Rogan quote ‘one generation away from losing freedom.’ Interestingly, Ramaswamy also admired the 40th President of the U.S.A. White will likely endorse Donald Trump in the upcoming 2024 elections as he had in the last two.
