Dana White finally breaks the news about the potential return of welterweight SUPERSTAR Colby Covington
UFC CEO Dana White has his say on Colby Covington's eagerly anticipated return to the octagon
Colby Covington’s last fight was against his arch-rival, Jorge Masvidal that took place at UFC 272 in March. The fighter won the highly anticipated grudge fight via unanimous decision and dominated the whole fight. Later Masvidal and Covington got into a physical altercation somewhere outside and the ‘Gamebred’ sucker punched Covington. This whole scenario also involved the police and it was all a mess.
It’s been a lot of time and Covington’s fans are eagerly waiting for his return. One of the potential opponents for the fighter is the undefeated Russian, Khamzat Chimaev. The ‘Borz’ recently fought Kevin Holland at UFC 279 and absolutely ragdolled the fighter to an easy submission win. Since then, fight fans have been hyping up the potential fight between Covington and Chimaev next.
Chimaev as usual is ready to fight anybody and anytime and he doesn’t care if it’s Covington or not. However, there is a lot of uncertainty revolving around this fight. The first one is that Chimaev will most probably fight in the middleweight division and the second one is the confirmation regarding Covington’s return.

Halen Yee then asked White about Covington’s return to the octagon in 2022. “So there is a possibility that he can return this year, right?.”
To which White gave an affirmative response.
White knows the potential of Covington when it comes to selling huge pay-per-view events and the UFC will definitely not lose it. Covington’s next fight will come soon and it will definitely be bigger than the last one. For the fight fans it’s great news as Covington is equally entertaining both inside and outside the octagon.
