The newly formed partnership between the UFC and Bud Light did not sit well with many UFC fans. They went on the internet to react to the news. The backlash for the newly formed partnership led the UFC CEO Dana White to address the issue on Fox News. He came on Sean Hannity’s show to address the deal with Bud Light.
Dana White revealed the reason for leaving Modelo for Bud Light. He said money was not the ultimate decider for the deal, and other factors decided the new partnership. This is what he said:
I know all the controversy and everything else, but for myself, going into a long-term deal with another sponsor, I want to be with somebody that I'm actually aligned with. They employ 65,000 Americans. They have thousands of vets that work for them. They spend $700 million a year with U.S. farmers using their crops to make their products and many, many other great things that Anheuser-Busch has done in this country.Dana White via Fox News.
Bud Light found controversy when they partnered with Dylan Mulvaney to promote LGBTQ+. However, it angered the conservative and right-wing consumers of Bud Light. The UFC aligning with Bud Light might lose them some fans in the short run. However, the ones interested in fights rather than politics and ideology will surely tune in. Dana White went on Fox News to reveal his side for pursuing the partnership.
Nevertheless, the move might be more beneficial to Bud Light than the UFC. Bud Light needs to overcome the brand damage they caused when they aligned with Dylan Mulvaney. The UFC has a decent track record and could help them regain their reputation from their horrible decision-making in 2023.
American political commentator predicts dark future for UFC-Bud Light partnership
Clay Travis is an American political commentator and radio host. Travis is a major voice in the American conservative movement. He hosts The Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, a three-hour weekday conservative talk show. The Bud Light business struggled once the conservative consumers started to boycott them.
Despite the new partnership with the UFC, Clay Travis does not see a change for Bud Light. He went on X (formerly Twitter) to predict the future. This is what Travis said:
Bud Light just spent $100 million on a UFC sponsorship deal to try and cancel out the chicks with dicks ad. No one is drinking Bud Light at any tailgate I've been to this fall. Brand is dead.Clay Travis via X.
It appears that the conservative consumers will not forget or forgive the controversial decisions made by Bud Light this year. If what Travis said becomes a reality, it might not affect the UFC so much. However, Bud Light’s attempt to regain its damaged reputation will fail.
