“This is his HOUSE,” Dana White pours a heartfelt farewell message for Nate Diaz after Diaz’s stellar victory at UFC 279

Dana White- Nate Diaz

Probably Nate Diaz will go down as one of those fighters that will remain close to Dana White no matter the separation. Diaz ended his UFC career with a bang by pulling off a classic guillotine choke finish in the fourth round to secure a win, against a former interim-world champion in Tony Ferguson, who unfortunately has taken a fifth straight loss in his ongoing losing streak. From here on, Diaz has concrete plans of being a promoter through Real Fight INC. but might be open to exhibition boxing as well.

Diaz started his UFC run with a historical statement made by winning the fifth season of The Ultimate Fighter in 2007, ever since then, Diaz also secured a title shot against Benson Henderson in 2012. Now with his UFC career having been wrapped, Diaz has wins over Ferguson, Donald Cerrone, Conor McGregor, Anthony Pettis, Michael Johnson, Jim Miller, Melvin Guillard and many more. Diaz is going out leaving the legacy of him and his elder brother Nick Diaz for the much deserving Hall of Fame Induction.

In the post-event media scrum for UFC 279, White talked about Khamzat Chimaev’s weight issues, the contentious decision win handed over to Daniel Rodriguez over Li Jingliang, taking care of Chris Barnett after the spectacular performance, Johnny Walker being exited from the T-Mobile Arena and much more. In the midst of all, White reacted to Diaz’s post-UFC plans and the thoughts were rather generous from the face of the company.

“No matter what Nate does from here on out, the kid, this is his house he’s been here forever, it’s been a blast having him here and you know I wish him well,” said White. “He and I had this discussion months ago at the offices. Whatever he moves on to do, I wish him nothing but the best. He’s starting his own organization or you know getting into promoting or doing something else, I wish nothing but the best of luck, it’s been awesome having him out here,” concludes White.

What do you make of White’s response to Diaz bidding farewell to the UFC? Where do you think Diaz goes from here other than being a verified promoter? As mentioned before, exhibition boxing seems to be a viable option, but against whom? Probably the only person outside of the UFC roster that is capable of selling the fights on par with Diaz is Youtuber-cum-boxer Jake Paul. How do you think their fight would go?
