“An absolute FREAK of nature,” Dana White reacts to Khamzat Chimaev’s killer finish over Kevin Holland at UFC 279

Khamzat Chimaev and Dana White

Khamzat Chimaev just reminded the entire MMA community about how good he is, especially Dana White. White, the President of the UFC has undergone the experience of having a rather bizarre fight week for UFC 279, thanks to a constantly fired-up Chimaev. First, the pre-fight press conference had to be called off because of Chimaev’s back and forth with his original UFC 279 opponent Nate Diaz and then his new opponent Kevin Holland.

Then, due to the doctor’s advice, Chimaev couldn’t cut his weight any lesser than 178.5 lbs which was 7.5 lbs more than the sanctioned weight limit in order to fight Diaz. So, some last-minute changes were made in the main-card competition which made Chimaev go against Holland in the end. Regardless, Chimaev showed no traces of suffering from any adversity in the co-main slot and swept over Holland with an opening-round D’Arce Choke win.

In the post-event media scrum for UFC 279, Dana White talked about Khamzat Chimaev’s weight issues, the contentious decision win handed over to Daniel Rodriguez over Li Jingliang, taking care of Chris Barnett after the spectacular performance, Johnny Walker being exited from the T-Mobile Arena, reacting to the main event and much more. In the midst of all, White also talked about Chimaev’s performance against Holland and this is what he had to say.

“I don’t know if anybody expected him to do exactly what he did,” says White. “You don’t know what to expect from that guy. For him to go out- and this is like his fourth fight- like he never takes a punch, he’s an absolute f**king freak of nature. And I don’t think anybody expected that especially against Kevin who’s 6’2″, you know…” concluded White. White also confirmed that meetings will be held to possibly set up Chimaev for only middleweight bouts in near future.
