“Don’t think he gives a sh*t,” Dana White reacts to putting Jon Jones and ‘sh*t-talking’ Colby Covington on same card
Colby Covington and Jon Jones do not see eye to eye. Similar to Covington's storyline with Jorge Masvidal, he once had a close friendship with Jon Jones.

Colby Covington and Jon Jones wrestled in college and shared a room together. Since then, the duo have gone back and forth with each other. Dana White was asked about Jon Jones at UFC 294 during the post-fight press conference after Dana White’s Contender Series. During the presser, White clarified Colby Covington’s claim that Jon Jones did not want him to compete on the same card as him.
The UFC president had a different perspective. He claimed that Daniel Cormier may have been the only one who Jones did not like. Dana White further explained, ” What’s he gotta shit about anything, the guy is literally the greatest MMA fighter. You think he’s worried about who’s on the co-main event.” White remains doubtful about Colby Covington’s claims that Jon Jones would refuse to co-headline the UFC 295 card alongside him. Covington claimed Jones wouldn’t agree to share the spotlight with him in a big event. However, White did not think so.
A fight card with both Covington and Jones on the same card would attract a lot of attention and excitement among the UFC fans. Jon Jones will defend his title against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295. Colby Covington could fight Leon Edwards for the title in the same event. However, the UFC has not confirmed the Covington vs. Edwards title bout.
Covington was the backup fighter for the trilogy fight between Kamaru Usman and Leon Edwards. Prior to that, he defeated Jorge Masvidal via unanimous decision at UFC 272. Jon Jones defeated Ciryl Gane at UFC 285 in his most recent outing to win the heavyweight title. The UFC 295 PPV card has the potential to become a must-watch event if Covington fights on the card.
Daniel Cormier is the only fighter that Jon Jones hated, according to Dana White

During the post-fight presser of the Contender Series, Dana White explained the rumored feud between Jon Jones and Colby Covington. In response to Covington’s claim that Jones did not want him anywhere near UFC 295, White provided clarification. White explained that Jones had never hated any fighter other than Daniel Cormier.
Cormier and Jones fought two times inside the octagon. Jones won the first fight via unanimous decision. The second fight ended in a TKO victory for Jones but became a no-contest due to a failed drug test. Cormier and Jones still have not reconciled. Cormier went on to win the heavyweight title after his light heavyweight reign.
Cormier retired in 2020 and has become the leading commentator for the UFC. Along with Joe Rogan and Jon Anik, Cormier is the primary commentator for the UFC pay-per-view events. On the other hand, Jones might retire after his bout against Stipe. It would truly be the end of an era after UFC 295 if Jones decides to hang it up.
