Dana White- Mark Zuckerberg
For a man like Mark Zuckerberg to inculcate his interest in the sport of MMA, someone big from the sport had to approach him for a meet and therefore, Dana White did. White is the President of the UFC since 2001. His net worth is around $500 million. Mark Zuckerberg is the co-founder of Facebook and its parent company, Meta Platforms. He currently holds the position of CEO for Facebook. His net worth is estimated at around $65 billion according to Forbes.
Just not so long ago, the internet exploded with this viral clip of Zuckerberg training in MMA with Khai Wu, who is known to be the best MMA fighter in Taiwan. Fair enough to say, Zuckerberg is a quick learner of the sport who was catching his own flow in striking and grappling. Many notable names such as UFC megastar Conor McGregor, welterweight Gilbert Burns, UFC bantamweight champion Aljamain Sterling and UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski hailed Zuckerberg’s dedication to the training.

In answer to an amusing question, Dana White doesn’t think Mark Zuckerberg will get into Contender Series

In the post-event media scrum for Dana White’s Contender Series, White talked about reacting to Nate Diaz narrating the time when they both got into a heated argument, Nate Diaz starting his own promotion, UFC Paris reviews and much more. In the midst of all, White also talked about meeting Zuckerberg and how did the meeting go. White started off by answering if Zuckerberg is ever going to get into Contender Series.
“I don’t think that’s gonna happen,” says White. “But yeah, we met and we talked and he loves the sport, he’s very knowledgable about the sport and yeah,” continues White. On having any special collaboration with Zuckerberg’s company apart from having content uploaded regularly on Facebook and Instagram, White said “Who knows? Our rights are coming up we’ll see what happens,” concluded White.
What did you make of White’s inference of meeting Zuckerberg? Do you think Zuckerberg will ever compete in MMA at any level? Do you think Zuckerberg is the biggest attraction to the sport of MMA by far outside of the fighting industry? Where do you put Zuckerberg amongst the most influential innovators of this century, based on what he did with the term “social media” and how he revolutionised social interaction in almost every corner of every society in the world today?
