Dana White and Donald Trump are longtime friends. Trump along with Kid Rock and Tucker Carlson were present at the recently concluded UFC 295 PPV. The event at MSG was a big success, and Trump even received the biggest cheer from the crowd. It was not the first time the former US President attended a UFC event.
In a recent podcast appearance on comedian Theo Von‘s podcast, Dana White shared an interesting story of what happened after he shared a personal social media post endorsing Trump. One of the UFC’s sponsors wanted the post to be deleted. This is what he had to say about the incident.
One of our big sponsors called and said, take that down.” “I said, go f*** yourself. You vote for whoever you want to vote for and I'll vote for whoever I want to vote for. That's how this works. I don't even care who you're voting for. It's none of my f***ing business. F*** you.Dana White via Theo Von’s YouTube channel.
Dana White, like his friend and podcast and UFC commentator, Joe Rogan, is a proponent of free speech. As the CEO of the UFC, White has a wide variety of individuals from different parts of the world working under him. He has fighters with different political views fighting under the UFC banner.
Donald Trump is a big UFC fan, and he even helped Dana White during his early years in the UFC. Jorge Masvidal and Colby Covington are the favorite fighters of the former president. Ironically, Masvidal and Covington are bitter rivals. They were once best friends but are now very much at odds with each other.
Dana White again doubles down on the recent deal with Budlight
In addition to his association with Donald Trump, Dana White’s recent UFC deal with Budlight was also deemed controversial. Many bashed the UFC for signing a deal with Budlight due to the company’s association with Dylan Mulvaney, a transgender influencer.
The decision to sign with Budlight did not go well with fans and fighters of the UFC. UFC lost several Fight Pass subscribers after the deal. Moreover, UFC middleweight champion Sean Strickland heavily criticized the decision. Strickland is a hard-nosed conservative. Nevertheless, White in his recent podcast appearance on Theo Von’s podcast, doubled down on his partnership with the beer company. This is what he said about Budlight:
Bud Light is the right move for me. They're exactly who I want to be with right now, and we are very aligned as far as core values go, you know what I mean? 65,000 Americans they employ. Yeah, that right there should be enough.Dana White via Theo Von’s YouTube channel.
Dana White further explained what Budlight has done and is doing for veterans, first responders, and their families. Apparently, it was enough for the UFC CEO to ink the deal.
White will look forward to closing the UFC PPV show with a bang at UFC 296, headlined by Leon Edwards and Colby Covington. The recently concluded UFC 295 was a big success. The event, headlined by Alex Pereira and Jiri Prochazka, is now the second at MSG with a live gate of $12.5 million.
