With UFC 300 around the corner, the fight card has been gaining much traction for the last few weeks. Who should headline the card? – is everybody’s question. From Conor McGregor adding to the hype, wanting to ‘seal the deal’. To veteran announcer, Bruce Buffer refusing to use slurs to introduce Jim Miller. To Renato Moicano openly bashing the all-women affair in the lineup; the card has it all. All except for a spectacular main event. Now, a new announcement from top honcho, Dana White makes things worse.
UFC 300 latest full card update has 3 women fights on the athlete listings, which left fans dejected. Miller recently tagged in his wish for UFC 300. Interim champ Tom Aspinall doesn’t rule out Alex Pereira‘s UFC 300 callout. And with ‘the Notorious’ serving out constant teases, Nate Diaz wouldn’t be left out of it too. Supposed to headline UFC 200 originally, even he wished upon it recently.
The card already includes an array of top names, like Zhang Wieli, Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, Jiri Prochazka, Aljamain Sterling, Calvin Kattar, and Arman Tsarukyan. Two of the bouts are at 155lbs; Charles Oliveira facing Tsarukyan and Gaethje defending his “BMF” title gold against returning lightweight, Holloway.
Returning to the crowded lightweight title contention scene, Holloway recently nudged that he is ready for both titles. 155lbs and BMF title gold. This was consequently in conversation with Kevin Iole of Yahoo Sports. Accordingly, his BMF battle has gotten fans very excited. But, conversely, the fight bubble is not entirely easy on it as a supposed main event and has hence reacted to it.
Fans react to Dana White’s dubious UFC 300 announcement
UFC CEO and taskmaster, Dana White recently stated that UFC 300 needs two more announcements. During a recent appearance on the ‘Full Send‘ Podcast, White revealed he’s working on some “wild stuff” to book UFC 300’s main event. Additionally, attending the Power Slap 6 event post-fight presser, White hinted at two fights left. One a co-main event, and another fight.
Concurrently, this has alarmed the MMA community to no bounds. And here’s how they have reacted to the matter –
Justin Gaethje takes on Max Holloway, in the historic April event. He thus defends his “BMF” title gold against the rival. While fans are heavily excited about the clash, they are, however, not set on it as a headliner.
Accordingly, some have gibed at this as a ‘fake‘ title event. On the other hand, though, some have consequently hinted at this just being a case of miswording a phrase.
