UFC 300 is one of the most anticipated UFC events ever. Many fighters have already talked about their interest in fighting at the event. Conor McGregor, Colby Covington, and Islam Makhachev are some of the names in the rumor mills attached to fight at UFC 300. Now, former UFC double champion Daniel Cormier provided his take on who will headline the event.

Ariel Helwani recently interviewed Daniel Cormier on the MMA Hour. During the interview, Cormier talked about how he would schedule UFC 300. This is what he said.

I'm doing Conor McGregor, Michael Chandler. I am doing it. If the winner of the PPV next week, or in two weeks, I think that champion will be on UFC 300, especially if it's Colby Covington................and then another title fight. I think you get three title fights, but then all those guys are booked in the first part of the year,...........I don't think you get any of the big returns. You don't get like Brock(Lesnar) coming back, no, like those of things... I think Islam(Makhachev) has to fight in Saudi Arabia. I think that just, to me, that makes sense. It just makes sense.

Apparently, Daniel Cormier is of the stern belief that Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler should headline UFC 300. In the co-main event, Cormier put Colby Covington in the co-main event in his first title defense. This is if and only if he beats Leon Edwards at UFC 296.

Moreover, Cormier wanted one more title fight at the event. Dana White has already announced big fights for UFC 297, UFC 298, and UFC 299. That rules out big names out of the event. Moreover, Cormier does not see Brock Lesnar’s return.

Furthermore, he does not see Islam Makhachev and Charles Oliveira at the event. The reason was that the UFC announced UFC Fight Night 238 in Saudi Arabia. Cormier felt that Makhachev should headline the Fight Night event in Saudi Arabia. He cited the example of WWE, who always brought the big stars for events in Saudi Arabia.

Popular MMA YouTube analyst The Weasle provided his UFC 300 PPV card recently. Like Daniel Cormier, The Weasle has Michael Chandler and Conor McGregor headlining the event. Interestingly, he does share Cormier’s sentiment of having two title fights in the PPV as co-main events. However, he has the trilogy fight between Alexa Grasso and Valentina Shevchenko in the co-main event.

Moreover, he also has another co-main event between Yan Xiaonan and Zhang Weili for the strawweight title. The fourth fight of his proposed card is between Max Holloway and Justin Gaethje in a lightweight bout. Holloway already has an interest in the fight. Unfortunately, Gaethje is hesitant about it. Nevertheless, it is a fight that the fans want to see.

Interestingly, for the main card opener, The Weasle has Khamzat Chimaev vs Jared Cannonier in a number one contender’s bout in the middleweight division. The card provided by the analyst was different than what Cormier made, but they have certain similarities too. Nevertheless, the UFC is known for pulling rabbits out of hats, and therefore, the fans eagerly await the promotion’s announcement.

In case you missed it!
