Daniel Cormier and Gina Rodriguez set to star in Paramaount+‘s TV adaption of ‘Warrior’

Daniel Cormier is all set to star in the television adaptation of the popular MMA movie, Warrior alongside Gina Rodríguez. Cormier will finally be making his hollywood debut and show the fans his acting capabilities. The former light heavyweight champion has a mammoth task to act as one of the lead roles in the series. Cormier has been around cameras for a long time now and has a reputation of being a fun personality. The retired fighter has proven how comfortable he is as a commentator and show host.

Cormier will share the screen with Gina Rodríguez who is a well established actor. The American actress has been part of shows and movies such as Jane The Virgin, Annihilation etc. Cormier and Rodríguez will play two of the four main characters in the show.

O’Connor is a seasoned director with great movies such as The Accountant, Pride and Glory, Jane Got a Gun under his belt. One of the most famous movies of O’Connor is the 2011 movie, Warrior, which was a huge hit. The movie tells the story about two brothers who got separated at an early age due to certain circumstances and had to struggle. Both the brothers found each other fighting in a MMA tournament. The movie is action packed with great MMA scenes done with impressive details.

While talking about the movie and the upcoming project, O’Connor told Deadline:

Over the years, I’d been approached by Lionsgate to do Warrior as a TV series and I honestly was never interested. I didn’t want to make something on fighting in a cage. That wasn’t the movie I made, it’s about a life fight. We will have two women and two men, we’re going to follow them through 10 episodes and hook the audience into their journeys and they’re eventually going to face each other.”

Cormier has had an amazing and celebrated career as an professional MMA fighter and has a plethora of knowledge of the sport. He can surely use that to enhance his character in his new job. The UFC Hall of Famer is surely an amazing choice for this project and the producers have made a great choice.
