Deiveson Figueiredo, the flyweight champion is currently sidelined and is taking a lay-off for a year. UFC has decided to put an interim flyweight title on the line for the Brandon Moreno vs Kai Kara France 2 fight at UFC 277. The pay-per-view event will take place tomorrow at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. The two flyweight contenders will be fighting in the co-main event and will look to be crowned as the interim champ.

Though Figueiredo is out right now, he will pay close attention to the upcoming flyweight title fight as he looks to put on a show for the Brazilian fans. “My fight is to bring this match to Brazil. Since they’re doing a UFC here, I want to make sure they book my fight for Brazil. I want to fight whoever wins, whoever that is, to face me here under my crowd,” said Figgy talking on the Trocação Franca podcast.

Deiveson’s recent experience in and out of the UFC octagon has not been very pleasant. The fighter has changed managers after having issues with the paycheck he received from the promotion for his last three title fights when compared to the champions of other divisions. Figgy also got into a dispute with Brandon Moreno and accused the Mexican of being racist.

The fighter contemplates a move to the bantamweight division but believes he will wait to see how the booked fights at the 135 division play out. “I admit I have the desire to go up to 135. I don’t when, only God knows that. As long as I’m having success at 125 and have someone to challenge me, rest assured that I’ll continue defending what’s mine,” said Figgy on the Trocação Franca. If Moreno manages to win the fight against Kai Kara-France tomorrow, Deiveson would be facing the Mexican for the fourth time in a row in his career. The fighter’s last three fights have been against Moreno for the flyweight belt. In which, Deiveson Figueiredo lost one bout.
