Tyson Fury and Francis Ngannou are going at it this weekend in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. As such, many, including Demetrious Johnson, have voiced their opinion on the crossover fight. The bout is all boxing rules and no MMA rule has been implemented. This has shifted the balance of the fight towards Tyson Fury, who is arguably one of the best boxers of all time. But not everyone is riding this hype train.
UFC legend, Demetrious Johnson has a different take on this fight. According to him, Francis Ngannou has the resiliency and knockout power in him to get the upset in this fight. This is what he had to say in his prediction video:
I think he (Francis Ngannou) is going to beat the body up, which will be smart because Tyson Fury has a soft belly. And when you have someone with a soft belly, you beat the living hell out of that belly!Demetrious Johnson via YouTube
Demetrious Johnson voiced confidence in Francis Ngannou‘s ability to come close enough to Fury to knock him out during the fight. While Johnson’s analysis focuses on Ngannou’s ability to capitalize on crucial moments in the fight, Ngannou won’t have the luxury of following up on knockdowns as he does in mixed martial arts.
The sports world is excited to see this historic bout as fight night draws near. It would certainly be one of the biggest upsets in the history of combat sports if Demetrious Johnson’s prediction comes true. This will solidify Ngannou’s legacy and change the discourse around crossover fights.
Mike Tyson isn’t ruling out doing a boxing exhibition in the future
Mike Tyson, arguably one of the scariest knockout artists, has been retired from boxing for some time now. We did see him come out of retirement, at the age of 54 to fight to face Roy Jones Jr. This fight was a split draw and Mike retired again. Recently, Mike Tyson has been training Francis Ngannou in preparation for his bout against Tyson Fury.
But apparently, the fire inside Mike Tyson is still blazing and he is still open to fighting. In a recent interview, before the Fury vs. Ngannou bout in Riyadh, Mike Tyson had a few words regarding exhibition bouts.
Listen, everybody wants me to fight an exhibition, everybody. Hey, listen, If the price is right.Mike Tyson in an interview with MMA Junkie
Fight fans must wait for this much-anticipated bout, where Mike will be in Ngannou’s corner. Given that he is open to it, fans may see Mike Tyson preparing for an exhibition fight.
