A TMZ interviewer has done a dirty deed to Ciryl Gane before his fight against UFC 285. Ciryl Gane and Jon Jones are now in their final stages of preparation ahead of their fight against each other for the UFC Heavyweight Championship. They are also doing their media obligations to promote their fight, and a TMZ interviewer did the most cardinal sin an interviewer can do to a fighter.

The interviewer addressed Ciryl Gane as “Francis” alluding to former UFC Heavyweight Champion Francis Ngannou. Gane approached the interaction very professionally, but it left much to be desired from the interviewer.

Ciryl Gane will look to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship after losing a close decision to Francis Ngannou at UFC 270 last year. Since then, he knocked out Tai Tuivasa to remain the No.1 contender for the Heavyweight title. He will collide against Jon Jones at UFC 285 and shock many people if he can defeat Jones.

On the other hand, Jones is coming after a hiatus of 3 years away from the Octagon. It remains to be seen if he has any sort of ring rust due to inactivity. Jones is training with Henry Cejudo in preparation for his bout against Gane.

The TMZ interview leaves fans in split reactions

Ciryl Gane is certainly not a fighter who is under the media spotlight. The Frenchman hardly indulges in trash-talk and is never controversial. But he does let his skills do the talking inside the Octagon.

While few fans weren’t surprised at the interviewer addressing Gane as Ngannou, some hit out at the interviewer as well. Here are some of the reactions to the interviewer’s on-air botch:

Despite the fan reactions, all that matters is that Gane defeats Jones, and this interview will be behind everyone.
