Derek Brunson has never shied away from lending his voice for social justice. The UFC middleweight has been vocal about domestic abuse in the past but his recent tweet on Dana White and the promoter’s wife’s slapping incident in Mexico now has fans doubting Brunson.

Recently, UFC president Dana White was caught slapping his wife, Anne White at a nightclub in Cabo, Mexico during New Year’s eve. The UFC boss received loads of outrage for his actions. While most fighters on White’s payroll have decided to stay silent, Derek Brunson decided to tweet about the incident.

“Was Dana White wrong , “YES” . Men shouldn’t hit women. Do I feel this is a reflection of who Dana White is , NO. Dana has been a component of second chances . I think speaking up against the topic and maybe sit out two events is fair! He admitted he was wrong !” wrote Brunson in his recent tweet.

Fans believe that the fighter has backtracked on his intentions towards domestic abusers now that the UFC boss has been caught in a similar scandal. Brunson has publicly stated many times that he is against domestic abuse. Fans have now accused the fighter of backtracking on his opinions.

Brunson at the UFC 271 media day back in 2022 wore an “I beat domestic abusers” T-Shirt and spoke out against domestic violence. The fighter also called criminals accused of domestic abuse “weak”. Dana White has come out and apologized for his actions in a TMZ interview. The UFC boss claims this was the first time the couple has gotten physical during an argument.
