South Africa’s most successful coaching combination, the Springboks, emerged victorious in the Rugby World Cup men’s final. In the ultimate match, they competed against the runner-up New Zealand. Moreover, Dricus du Plessis was in attendance for the final. A recent video has emerged, with him cheering on ecstatically. It has garnered quite a few positive fan reactions.
The video has Plessis reacting with the progression of the match. It has him getting up and hugging out on each small victory. This has reverbed well with the fans. One prominent reaction read:
He's winning over me.
South Africa and New Zealand are the only two teams to have won the Rugby World Cup three times. Their 1995 hosting of the tournament was an opportunity to unite the nation, which they accomplished with a win against the All Blacks. They attempted to repeat this in 2007 and 2019 by defeating England on both occasions.
Before taking on Robert Whittaker, du Plessis overtly wished them luck against Wallabies in Pretoria. On this occasion, and UFC 290 victory and his clash with rival Israel Adesanya, he took to social media to thank the nation as well as make a friendly callout to the team.
A fractured foot hindered his ability to make a prompt return for UFC 293, resulting in Sean Strickland taking the title shot instead.
Dricus du Plessis earns the upper hand against Khamzat Chimaev post-UFC 294
Khamzat Chimaev faced off against Kamaru Usman at UFC 294. Despite his victory, Chimaev’s overall performance has been ridiculed by peers and fans. After an explosive first round, Chimaev had lost most of his corporal stamina to outperform Usman.
He reportedly also broke his right arm with a strike within the first round itself. With the performance not living up to its set hype, a comparison has been made with Dricus du Plessis’ recent victories at UFC 290 and with Israel Adesanya.
In the MMA talkshow Morning Kombat, Luke Thomas deliberates on Chimaev’s win. He measures it up against Plessis’ wins against top middleweights, before incurring an injury.
A prominent reply from Ben Karpinski read that while Chimaev is undoubtedly good, he doesn’t measure up to Plessis’ recent feats. Karpinski is the creator of the Modern Manual website, and also deals in MMA fintech services.
Coincidentally, Plessis himself has expressed not being happy with Chimaev’s performance either. He had made callouts to the fighter in the near past. As of late, he has also called out Sean Strickland for his gold. All the while he also has a healthy dose of a rivalry going on with Adesanya.
