UFC Lightweight Dustin Poirier is a loyal team’s loyal man and so he is definitely excited for the return of one of his longtime teammates Joanna Jedrzejczyk come this weekend. Poirier who last fought and unfortunately lost the second undisputed title fight of his career when lost to former champion Charles Oliveira via unanimous decision back in 2021 at UFC 269. Poirier has since been looking for a fight in a desperate mood, to an extent that he is even ready to fight his bitter foe, Colby Covington, against whom Poirier vowed to never let Covington make money from fighting him.
Jedrzejczyk, the former UFC women’s strawweight champion, on the other hand, was last seen more than 2 years ago when she fought in one of the greatest MMA fights ever in history against a fellow former champion in Zhang Weili. The fight ended up being a unanimous decision in favour of Weili. Weili was last seen in an attempt to capture her belt back against former champion Rose Namajunas in a rematch but couldn’t succeed. Now Weili and Joanna are going to fight in a rematch this Saturday night at UFC 275.

Now, unlike the championship stipulation of last time where you have to fight 5 rounds, Joanna and Weili are going to fight just 3 rounds and therefore are expected to make the fight more explosive since the cardio can be used up rapidly without thinking about the 2 more rounds. The winner of this fight is most likely to fight for the title next. Poirier took to Twitter to express his joy in seeing his teammate Joanna, who shares the same gym as Poirier i.e. American Top Team.
Poirier basically wrote, “Excited to see JJ back tonight!!!!”
