Brendan Schaub is in doubt about Khamzat Chimaev‘s chances against Robert Whittaker in their upcoming fight. The former UFC fighter recently sat down on the podcast where he gave his reasons for concern about the matchup.

Brendan Schaub sat down on the Extra Thiccc podcast where he talked about the upcoming main event of UFC on ABC 6. He laid out his concerns for the matchup between the two fighters and said:

Can Khamzat win? Absolutely. I’m not saying that. What I’m saying is this is a massive jump-up in competition for Khamzat in middleweight. Or even when he’s welterweight, this is by far the toughest fight. And he seems to have some cardio issues…If that Kamaru Usman was five rounds, there’s argument Kamaru was just turning on that could have gone dicey for Khamzat. Now you’re fighting a true middleweight.

Schaub also pointed out that there was concern about bringing Khamzat to America. Chimaev’s appearance in the United States has been scarce likely because of immigration issues. However, since Dana White and Donald Trump are friends, Schaub speculates that White might be able to pull some strings to bring ‘Borz’ to America. However, his fight against the Kiwi-Aussie will happen in Saudi Arabia.

Specifically, it is scheduled for this June at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Chimaev and Whittaker will headline the main event of the matchup. Meanwhile, Schaub was not the only one concerned with the matchup. Michael Bisping too laid out his concerns regarding this middleweight fight.

Robert Whittaker is ready to take Khamzat Chimaev to war

Whittaker said that he was looking forward to the fight. He has not taken Chimaev lightly and predicts the fight to be a tough one. However, the former champion revealed he is going into the fight with the mentality to take his opponent to war with the ultimate goal of earning his win over the undefeated Chechen. Whittaker said that a win over Chimaev would perfectly position himself for a title shot which had always been the goal.

‘The Reaper’ is a former UFC middleweight champion while Chimaev is only seven fights into his UFC career. Whittaker has the experience to know how to tackle fighters who come off strong in the early rounds. Thus, this fight is an interesting showdown. Will Robert Whittaker get a title shot this year? Will Khamzat Chimaev face his first loss in his MMA career? Only time will tell.
