Ex- world champion Wanderlei Silva announces running in the elections for the federal deputy in Parana

Wanderlei Silva, the man who at one point in time was the scariest fighter in MMA, is now looking to dominate another field in his life as he transitions from destroying fighters to building his birth nation. Silva past fought in 2018 and hasn’t competed since. Regardless, Silva has an illustrious record of 35-18, with 27 wins by the way of knockouts.
Silva’s victories include the likes of Brian Stann, Cung Le, Michael Bisping, Ricardo Arona, Quinton Jackson, Kazushi Sakaruba, Guy Mezger, Dan Henderson, and many more. Silva is the former PRIDE FC middleweight champion who also fought in light heavyweight and heavyweight, fought in the UFC at middleweight and light heavyweight, and fought in Bellator MMA at light heavyweight and heavyweight.

Silva made it official on his official Instagram handle that he will be running into the elections of his birth nation of Brazil for the candidature of federal deputy in the state of Parana.
“I made this decision because a lot of people complain about our country, a lot of people say nothing works here. In order to change this scenario, I’m running as a candidate for federal deputy in the state of Parana. Our state has never had an athlete with a name representing us and I want to be that person,” says Silva.
“I want to get to Brasilia and bring dignity to our sport and work so it becomes a strong instrument for social inclusion. I’m proof of what sports can do for the youth and I know we can change the lives of many. Besides sports, I’ll fight for strong and efficient public safety that values its professionals,” added Silva [h/t MMA Fighting]
