Former UFC heavyweight fighter, Greg Hardy was released from the UFC due to consecutive losses and his inability to create an impact as a fighter. After departing from the UFC, Greg Hardy was in talks to join the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship.
Greg Hardy had thought his UFC setbacks wouldn’t stop him from pursuing a career in MMA. A hard-hitting heavyweight with a strong chin, Greg Hardy was scheduled to make his BKFC debut against Josh Watson at Knucklemania 3. Hardy had some moments in the fight but his BKFC debut was short-lived.
Greg Hardy’s tendency to give strike openings to opponents in a stand-up battle haunted him during his time in the UFC. The same tendency haunted the fighter once again except this time it was in the BKFC ring. Josh Watson came guns blazing and knocked out Hardy within a minute of the second round.
The 34-year-old former UFC fighter has been on a losing streak and could possibly have to let go of his fighting career moving forward. Greg Hardy is a former NFL player who competed in the league for six seasons with the Carolina Panthers. His previous losses have come against Sergey Spivak, Tai Tuivasa, and Marcin Tybura.
Fans react to Greg Hardy’s insane knockout loss to Josh Watson at BKFC debut
Josh Watson’s knockout win over Greg Hardy got fans to celebrate Hardy’s brutal loss. “My favorite thing in all of sports: watching Greg Hardy get knocked the f**k out,” a fan reacted. Greg Hardy’s rough behavior and loopholes in fighting style have led to the fighter’s degraded image in the eyes of the fans.
UFC President, Dana White had previously defended Greg Hardy against critics back in 2019. However, Dana White himself decided to let go of Greg Hardy later in 2022 after his brutal KO loss against Sergey Spivak. Hardy has since been released from UFC contractual obligations.

Not even trying to guard himself, looks like he’s just banking on a KO. Leaving himself completely open for night night.

“Watching Greg Hardy get knocked out every fight he’s in, is truly a gift to the world,” another fan reacted to Greg Hardy’s KO loss. “Greg softy more like it 🙁 hate to see him get finished like this though the struggle back to his feet was brutal. Hope he stops doing these,” a fan expressed concern for Hardy’s health from concussions.
NFL itself is a brutal sport and an extended career leads to concussions. In deliberate and competitive combat sports, more such knockout losses could cause brain damage and possible nervous system damage in the long run. “If I was Greg Hardy I’d go sell cars or something. Get a nice cushy desk job,” another fan wrote.
