Petr Yan is taking on Merab Dvalishvili at UFC Fight Night: Yan vs Dvalishvili. The Russian fighter is coming off three losses in his last four fights. He will face a serious contender in Merab, who is on an eight-fight winning streak. Yan again tried to get under his opponent’s skin during the weigh-in.

Merab was pumped at the weigh-in and appeared to exchange words with Petr Yan before the final face-off for the media. At this point, Yan shoved Merab in the throat, angered Merab immensely. Yan has been known to occasionally agitate his opponents at the weigh-in, but this time, he took it to the next level by shoving him.

Petr Yan won the UFC Bantamweight Championship by defeating Jose Aldo at UFC 251. However, his first title defense against Aljamain Sterling at UFC 259 went bad for Yan. He illegally kneed Sterling to lose the contest by Disqualification. Ever since that event, he hasn’t been able to win the belt and has lost via split decisions to Aljamain Sterling and O’Malley.

For now, Yan will entirely focus on Merab and reach back to his title contender status once again become the Champion of the division. His rivalry with Merab has become heated in recent weeks, with Merab addressing their national histories to claim that this rivalry is personal. The fight fans will find out who will win the rivalry this week.
