Alexander Volkov faced Jairzinho Rozenstruik in a heavyweight contest at the main event of UFC Vegas 56. It was a crucial fight for both of them, and they started the fight accordingly. Volkov and Jairzinho took a more measured approach in the beginning but as soon as the punches started flowing, Volkov wasted no time in finding his shot.
Volkov stunned his opponent with a straight punch, and he followed it up with a barrage of strikes. Jairzinho was nearly out on his feet but he recovered and was about to move out from the way of his opponent’s punches, Herb Dean was the referee for this fight, and he thought Jairzinho was not intelligently defending himself, and he stopped the fight.
Herb Dean has been the center of controversy for some terrible judging in the past, but this one received mixed reactions from the MMA community. Some thought Herb did a great job of jumping in to stop the action, while others argued that Jairzinho was clearly getting back on his feet, and a little mess up on Herb’s part made Jairzinho miss a huge career opportunity.

MMA journalist, Ariel Helwani thought it was a bad stoppage, and he wrote, “Bad stoppage. Doesn’t count.”
A fan replied to his Tweet and blasted him for having this opinion.
Another fan claimed Herb’s tendency to pull himself away after touching the fighters is just awkward.
Another MMA journalist, Aaron Bronsteter is of the opinion that Herb messed this up.
Another fan pointed out that it isn’t his decision to step in that’s bad, it’s the way he does it.
