Khamzat Chimaev recently did an interview with Nina Marie Daniele. Fans on social media had mixed reactions to the interview. The notable part of the interview was the ‘Smash or Pass’ segment.
Daniele is one of the rising names in MMA media. Her unorthodox interviews, particularly with Sean Strickland made rounds on the internet. Her recent interview with Chimaev also garnered controversy. Chimaev, who is not a native English speaker, misjudged the ‘Smash or Pass’ segment of the interview. The Chechen fighter thought that ‘Smash’ meant that he would fight or defeat.
As a result, Chimaev said that he would ‘Smash’ the likes of Sean Strickland, Dricus Du Plessis, Paulo Costa, Roman Dolidze, Marvin Vettori and Israel Adesanya. Sensing danger for Daniele, one fan commented beneath the video, “She playin a dannnnngerous game lmao.”
Nina Marie Daniele came to prominence in the MMA media mainly for her interviews with Sean Strickland. She is a close friend of Strickland and as such, she was seen cheering for Strickland at UFC 293. Daniele also has a cordial relationship with the UFC CEO, Dana White.
Furthermore, she covers all the international events personally. She did interviews at UFC 293 in Australia, UFC Singapore, UFC Paris, and UFC London to name a few. It was no surprise to see her in UFC 294 in Abu Dhabi.
Chimaev is set to face Kamaru Usman in the co-main event of UFC 294. His original opponent, Paulo Costa withdrew due to staph infection. The fight with Usman is a number one contender fight for the middleweight title. Interestingly, both fighters hold rankings in the welterweight division. Moreover, both fighters have a history with Sean Strickland, the UFC middleweight champion.

It also needs to be noted that this interview is not as controversial as the Strickland interviews.
