“Getting heartbroken twice” – Fans furiously compare Patrick Mahomes ‘rigged’ Super Bowl to Islam Makhachev’s win at UFC 284

Fans who picked/wanted Alexander Volkanovski and the Philadelphia Eagles to win UFC 284 and Super Bowl respectively are furious over refereeing and judging in both sports. Patrick Mahomes and Islam Makhachev were the real winners of the two huge sporting events which caused a lot of upset.
Sports fans couldn’t have asked for a better weekend. The world got to witness two amazing athletes achieve tremendous feats in two different sports. Islam Makhachev successfully defended his lightweight title against the pound-for-pound best Alexander Volkanovski while Patrick Mahomes II won his second Super Bowl ring and Super MVP in his fifth NFL season.
A lot of fans were left upset as both the sporting events had controversial moments. While NFL fans complained about poor refereeing, fight fans believed Volkanovski was ‘robbed’ of his historical achievement. Makhachev went toe-to-toe with Volkanovski and won the fight via unanimous decision.
Patrick Mahomes II and the Kansas City Chiefs scraped a 38-35 win over the favorites, Philadelphia Eagles. There has been an outpour of criticism towards NFL refereeing all season. However, fans are finding it hard to cope with two ‘poor’ refereeing or judging in successive sporting events.

This is not the first time there has been outrage from the fans over poor refereeing or judging. UFC fans including pros have never held back on their criticism toward judges. Football fans, on the other hand, have accused several referees to have ‘rigged’ games.
After watching the two sporting events, fans couldn’t help but compare NFL refs with UFC judges. Some claim to be ‘truly heartbroken’ by the outcomes of the Superbowl and UFC 284. Check out some of the reactions on Twitter.
