“Chin of all chins” – Fans go wild as Arnold Allen puts Max Holloway’s ‘modeling career in jeopardy’ with five-round war

Max Holloway took on surging contender Arnold Allen in the main event of UFC on ESPN 44 in Kansas City. Allen was on a ten-fight winning streak, heading into the fight. A victory over Holloway could have landed him a Featherweight title shot. However, Max Holloway had other plans and controlled the striking exchanges to win a unanimous decision in Kansas City. Judges scored the fight 49-49, 49-46, and 48-47 to give Holloway the victory.
The fight started with a feeling-out process between the fighters. However, Holloway was able to pick and land his shots in the first round more consistently. Arnold Allen went on the offensive in the second round to land some good left-handed strikes. Most experts and fight fans had it 1-1 after two rounds. Starting from the third round, Holloway managed to pick up the pace in the fight and controlled it for rounds three and four.
In the final round, Allen attempted a comeback, but Holloway kept Allen at bay. Allen could not get past the guard of Max Holloway for most of the fight, ultimately giving him his second career loss. With the victory, Holloway has shown he is still the best fighter in the division after the Champion Alexander Volkanovski. The future of Holloway remains uncertain, as there are rumors of him moving up to the Lightweight division for fresh matchups.
With the loss, Allen must start from scratch to find himself in the title discussion. So far, Alexander Volkanovski and Yair Rodriguez will unify the titles later this year, and other contenders will have to wait until then. In the post-fight interview with Daniel Cormier, Holloway praised Allen and said he almost jeopardized Holloway’s modeling career as a joke.

Hawaiian fighter again showed he is still the top fighter behind Champion Volkanovski after comfortably defeating Arnold Allen in a five-round contest at Kansas City. Max Holloway joined the prestigious list of fighters with at least 20 wins in the UFC with the win over Allen. Fight fans expressed their happiness for the Hawaiian fighter on Twitter. The future remains uncertain for both fighters as Allen needs to start from scratch to earn his way to a title shot. However, after losing three straight times to Alexander Volkanovski, it is unclear if the UFC will book a fourth fight between Holloway and Volkanovski.
