Conor McGregor‘s new documentary unfolds a new perspective on the Conor-Khabib rivalry. Fans believe Khabib Nurmagomedov ducked McGregor for a rematch after scoring a win back in 2018.
Conor McGregor and Khabib Nurmagomedov probably have the most famous rivalry in UFC or MMA history. The two superstars clashed in the octagon back in 2018. Khabib scored a tantalizing fourth-round victory which followed an ugly after-fight brawl between the two teams. Even the pre-fight buildup is etched in UFC highlights with ‘The Notorious’ having to show up in jail for attacking Khabib before their fight. It is one of the most memorable rivalries in UFC history.
To date, there hasn’t been a rematch between the A-class fighters. Khabib took retirement shortly after his father’s death in 2020. Meanwhile, Conor was building back up, scoring a documented victory against Donald Cerrone. Expecting a rematch, the Irishman was stunned when Khabib announced his retirement at UFC 254. The Dagestani scored a second-round submission against Justin Gaethje and successfully retired as an undisputed champion with 29 wins and 0 losses in his professional career. McGregor’s new Netflix documentary sheds light on the post-fight developments in the Conor-Khabib rivalry. Many McGregor fans, for a long time, have believed that the Dagestani always ducked McGregor for the rematch.
One such fan account tweeted, “After watching the new McGregor documentary I can confidently say that Khabib ducked the rematch”. This was posted on Instagram by an MMA page and what caught everyone’s attention was Nate Diaz’s comment under that post. Diaz has always condemned Khabib, claiming to be a better fighter, although the two were never close to fighting it out in the octagon. “Yes Khabib’s a p*ssy .” he commented.

Although callouts as such inspire Twitter feuds, Khabib has long retired from the fighting game. He seems determined in his decision and thus there is no warrant that a showdown between Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov will ever take place. Meanwhile, Nate Diaz prepares for his boxing showdown against Jake Paul later this August.
