“Here to takeover” – Fans go WILD as ‘savage’ Yair Rodriguez pulls off incredible submission against Josh Emmett at UFC 284

The UFC interim featherweight title was on the line at UFC 284 which took place in Australia. Yair Rodriguez fought Josh Emmett and shocked the Perth crowd with an impressive win. In the first round, both fighters went all out with kicks and punches from distance. The Mexican was frequent with his leg kicks which kept Emmett from pressing Rodriguez. However, Emmett managed to connect a clear shot that dropped Rodriguez on the canvas and gave an opportunity for the American to get on top. The bell stopped the fighters as Rodriguez was in the guard position. 

In the second round, Rodriguez was even more lethal with his elbows and leg kicks and managed to make Emmett bleed. As the fight continued, Emmett took Rodriguez to the ground and tried to control from the top; however, this backfired for the fighter. Rodriguez waited for this moment and efficiently locked a triangle choke which forced Emmett to tap. 

Right after the finish, both the fighters showed immediate respect for each other and the crowd went mad. Rodriguez proved why he’s one of the best fighters in the featherweight division.

Rodriguez is sharp on the feet but with Volkanovski it isn’t going to be that easy. Volkanovski won’t make it any easier for Rodriguez to unify the belt; however, the Mexican definitely would have that winning momentum advantage over Alex considering his loss to Islam.
