Polyana Viana, celebrated for cosplaying anime characters, finds herself at odds with UFC regulations. Her aspirations of parading in cosplay outfits during her entrance have been quashed by the organization. This cast a shadow over her upcoming match against Iasmin Lucindo at UFC on ESPN 51.
Viana is set to grace the main card of the event hosted at UFC Apex in Las Vegas. Viana’s creative outlet collides with the UFC’s strict code of conduct. Regrettably, her imaginative pursuits won’t take the spotlight on the main stage. And fans are not happy about it. They took to social media to express their dissatisfaction with the decision and the promotion.
Conversing through an interpreter Polyana Viana voiced her frustration. “I’ve tried so many times, and I’ve actually asked to come in with a bandana,” Viana told MMA Junkie. However, her entreaties have consistently fallen on deaf ears within the UFC. The culprit behind this restriction appears to be her association with the Naruto brand, which prohibits her from indulging in cosplay for her entrance.
Yet, Viana remains undeterred. “I used to say that I only wanted the money, and I said I wasn’t ready to go after a belt – and I do feel that I am right now,” she expressed. This shift in perspective has kindled a desire to contend for the title. Viana attributes her elevated skills, be it in stand-up fighting, ground work, or fence tactics, to her training at the new gym associated with Charles Oliveira.
