The hyped match between Islam Makhachev vs. Alexander Volkanovski 2 took shape on Oct. 21. The champion vs. champion fight was a carryover from UFC 284. Makhachev knocked out the last-minute replacement, Volkanovski, in the first round. Volkanovski took on the unenviable task of fighting Makhachev on about 10 days’ notice after Charles Oliveira had to quit the card with an injury. Makhachev can now look forward to his next challenge after back-to-back title defenses against Volkanovski.

Recently the lightweight king took to visiting a special needs school, visiting children. A video has surfaced, of him bonding and interacting with the children. The video has drawn many positive reactions, with fans considering him to be a champion at heart. One prominent comment read:

This is not the only time he has engaged in such philanthropy. Late, last month, Makhachev also visited a special needs children’s hospital. He answered different queries and even deliberated on why he would not let his children participate in MMA. The Dagestani culture has long seen the mark of athletes competing in wrestling and sambo. But Makhachev thinks that it entails a lot of extra hassle. He said:

I honestly wouldn't want my son to do MMA. You have to go through a very difficult test to reach such a level that you can provide for your family. There are a lot of Olympic sport where a child can win the Dagestan Championship, Russian championship and you can already earn something. Wresting, judo are at a good level in our Republic.

Recently, the fighter has been elevated to #1 pound-for-pound fighter. This results conversely from his breakthrough title win over Charles Oliveira last October. Alongside that is his UFC 294 win, which removed any doubt cast upon him being able to dominate Volkanovski.

Recently, lightweight champion Islam Makhachev visited a special needs school. Winning his headlining bout at UFC 294, the fighter has been engaging in philanthropic endeavors as of late. At the end of October, he also visited a special needs hospital seminar, where he answered questions.

Before UFC 280, he had visited the kids at Al Jalila Children’s Specialty Hospital, along with Belal Muhammad. The visit was part of the Al Jalila Foundation’s AJFSports Ambassador program, which is a philanthropic initiative in the field of sports.
