Esteemed MMA fighter Donald Cerrone also known as ‘Cowboy,’ may not have secured the ultimate championship. But his financial success speaks volumes as he joins the ranks of the UFC Hall of Fame.
After experiencing a second-round submission loss to Jim Miller at UFC 276 Cerrone decided to call it quits. He officially retired from professional fighting. This marked the end of a remarkable journey that saw him achieve an impressive record of 23 wins. And also claim #3 in the record for the most UFC finishes. Recognizing Cerrone’s contributions to the sport, the UFC wasted no time in announcing his induction into the Hall of Fame. The formal ceremony took place in Las Vegas on Thursday evening, where Cerrone expressed his gratitude in his induction speech. He said, “Thank you all. I appreciate it…It’s been a wild, wild journey…I appreciate it. I did it for you.”
In a surprising twist, during his speech, the 40-year-old fighter chose to disclose the exact amount of money he accumulated during his extensive tenure in the UFC. “Oh, yeah. $10 million. That’s what I made in the UFC,” Cerrone proudly revealed. “How about that? $10 million. Not bad for a f***ing blue-collar country boy.”
Fans of the sport were elated to hear that ‘Cowboy’ was financially rewarded for his dedication. They were equally relieved that he no longer feels compelled to compete unless the offer is financially enticing. Cerrone said, “You have to come up with a number…I’m not itching because I need a couple hundred thousand dollars.” “So, it would have to be such a cr*zy number, ‘Ah, f*** it. I could use $5 million.’ I’d fight my grandma for $5 million,” he jokingly remarked.
