Sean O’Malley wanted to etch his title victory in stone, or rather, on his forehead. After his triumphant TKO over Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 in Boston, he decided to mark the occasion permanently. O’Malley remains in a joyful mood after dethroning the former champion.
With a professional record boasting 17 wins and just one loss, O’Malley had vowed to MMA Junkie’s Danny Segura that a “CHAMP” tattoo was on the horizon. He followed through on that promise, choosing his forehead of all places to ink it. Before this addition, O’Malley’s face and body were already adorned with various tattoos. He had hinted at more ink to commemorate his UFC 292 conquest, stating, “I might get ‘champ’ on my face somewhere.”
Now, with “CHAMP MMXXIII” boldly displayed on his forehead, O’Malley has ensured that the memory of that monumental victory will forever be etched in ink. During his post-fight interview, O’Malley wasted no time and immediately called for a rematch with Marlon Vera. He proposed that they should headline UFC 296 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas before 2023 ended.
O’Malley defeated Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 and took over the bantamweight title. The fight lasted two rounds and became the first KO loss of Sterling’s career since 2017. Sterling had proposed an immediate rematch since he believed he deserved one, considering his track record of performance in the division. However, O’Malley declined the idea of a rematch.
