UFC Vegas 70 featured the main event match-up between light heavyweight fighters Ryan Spann and Nikita Krylov. At the last moment, due to illness, Krylov pulled out. The Co-main event Muniz vs Allen was promoted as the new main event for UFC Vegas 70. Allen submitted Muniz in the third round.
Andre Muniz was coming off a five-fight win streak in the UFC (unbeaten), with victories over the legendary Jacare Souza and Uriah Hall, whereas Brendan Allen was on a three-fight winning streak, being undefeated in 2022. It was an exciting fight, to begin with, as it looked like both fighters could get a finish. Allen, finally submitted Muniz in the third round by Rear-Naked Choke.
The contest started with both fighters slugging it out with their fists. Muniz landed good shots early, but soon Allen began to find the range and started landing good shots of his own. It was more of the same in the second round, but Muniz attempted a takedown that backfired on him as Allen countered it at the last moment to come out on top. Allen won the second round that way. In the third round, Allen went for a takedown and slammed Muniz onto the ground.
He worked his way, securing a mount and looking for an Arm Triangle Choke, but Muniz escaped by giving his back. Quickly, Allen controlled the back and secured a Rear Naked Choke to get the win.
Allen is now on a 4-fight winning streak and will look to fight higher-ranked opponents as he climbs to securing a title shot. On the other hand, Muniz has suffered a setback and will look to bounce back in the next fight.

I thought Muniz’s grappling was better, or maybe I’m underestimating Allen
