“Bros down horrendous” – Fans react to Drake’s betting curse being alive and well after losing $2million on Israel Adesanya

Israel Adesanya just lost the highest-stake fight in his career against Alex Pereira. The loss will have ramifications minor and major, but one specific tangent has made the MMA community have a field day on Twitter.

Drake, who is one of the most popular celebrities on the planet, is also a humungous UFC fan. He has been seen with many big fighters, including Israel Adesanya, Conor McGregor and Jorge Masvidal. However, one repeated action of his has become part of MMA lore.

Drake is signed with the betting company Stake, and he posts his bets on Twitter before the fights. As luck would have it, he has lost most of his money on his fights. To exemplify this, one should look at his failed bet on Jorge Masvidal vs Colby Covington or the bet he placed on Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier 3.

It seems like what MMA fans call the “curse” has returned. Before UFC 281, Drake bet a whopping $2 million CAD on Israel Adesanya, only to lose all of that money as the Nigerian-born Kiwi was knocked out by Alex Pereira in the final round at UFC 281. It is safe to assume then, that Drake confounded another fighter to defeat by betting on them.

Well, Drake’s financial loss at UFC 281 turned out to be a gain for MMA fans on Twitter. Just like how he has been trolled previously for losing money on his bets, MMA fans did not spare the acclaimed rapper this time too. Drake was a subject of trolling after UFC 281. Here are some of the best reactions Twitter had:

Even though Drake has been popular for his ‘curse,’ fighters such as Paddy Pimblett, and Molly McCann have previously broken the infamous curse. Considering the Canadian is an MMA buff, fans can expect the rapper to bet on future fights. It will be interesting to see if the curse continues, or if some fighter joins the elite list of breaking it.
