“Two main events in a row” – Fans react to tragic injury of Tom Aspinall at UFC London which ends the fight in 15 seconds
Tom Aspinall faces devastating injury at UFC London
UFC London was an amazing Fight Night right until the main event. Curtis Blaydes and Tom Aspinall were booked to put on a show but the fight had to come to an unfortunate end as the UK heavyweight ended up blowing his knee in the very first round.
UFC London took place at the O2 Arena tonight and the event was headlined by the stunning heavyweight matchup between heavyweight prospect Tom Aspinall and the top-ranked veteran, Curtis Blaydes. Both the fighters were determined to put on a show for one of the best fans in the world and undoubtedly the best UFC crowd of the year 2022. The promotion decided to return to this amazing arena despite hosting a Fight Night event only three months earlier.
The UK crowd definitely did not deserve an end like this and the fans around the world did either. Heavyweight fights are very rarely this exciting. This fight was one of the most exciting matchups on paper and was almost guaranteed to be a blockbuster only if it had gone the full distance. As the bell rang for the fight to begin, Tom and Curtis took the center stage and immediately exchanged strikes.
A kick from Aspinall landed on Curtis’s knee and while landing, the UK fighter couldn’t help but fall to the ground and cry for help. A surprised Blaydes couldn’t believe what he saw and the fans on Twitter were surely disappointed that the UFC London main event had to come to an end in 15 seconds. This is the second time in a row this year that a UFC main event has been spoiled by an injury.
