Conor McGregor is the biggest troll in the fight scene. His glorious sense of humour coupled with the ability to back it up, has made him MMA’s biggest superstar. After dominating the fight scene in MMA, the Irish superstar decided to try his hand at the boxing scene. Obviously, McGregor wanted to make his debut with the best of the best. Enter Floyd Mayweather Jr.
The year was 2017. Floyd Mayweather had cruised through his career, undefeated. He had fought the best of the best and cemented his name as one of the top fighters of his generation. Meanwhile, McGregor had just made history after becoming the first simultaneous two-weight UFC champion. The ultimate crossover between two of the best fighters in their sport had the entire fighting community brimming with excitement.
Some naysayers rejected the idea at that time, considering the vast age difference between the two fighters. Floyd was 40, and nearing the end of his glorious professional career. Meanwhile, Conor was bustling at the ripe age of 28. However, media and fans had hyped the potential showdown for months.
Eventually, Conor McGregor took charge and officially declared the highly anticipated crossover. He delivered the announcement in his signature style of jocular humor. Sending out a tweet, Conor declared, “THE FIGHT IS ON.”

Floyd Mayweather TKO’d McGregor in the 10th round extending his professional boxing record to 50-0. By doing so he surpassed Hall of Famer Rocky Marciano‘s undefeated record of 49-0.
One similar crossover of such a massive scale was just announced. Tyson Fury is going head-to-head with Francis Ngannou after months of a highly anticipated announcement. The fight is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia later this October.
