Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira has pulled out of his fight against Beneil Dariush. Oliveira has been out of the bout due to an undisclosed injury and his fight with Dariush is to be rescheduled. This is the second major setback to UFC 288 after Jonathan Pearce pulled out of his fight against Bryce Mitchell. With so many great fights being replaced or rescheduled, fans question, why should they pay a ridiculous price for the PPV, is the question that lingers.
UFC 288 was one of the most anticipated events for fight fans. With Henry Cejudo making his return to the UFC against Aljamain Sterling the main event is a guaranteed hit. Fans were also very excited for the title fight eliminator between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush as the co-main. The hype around the fight between the two elite grapplers was so huge it led many fans to consider the fight as the main event. However, with Charles Oliveira pulling out of the fight due to a minor injury the fight is to be rescheduled.
UFC 287 was a stacked card and delivered some of the most memorable fights. UFC 288 has a great main event as well but compared to the previous event UFC 288 seems to fall a bit flat. With With Oliveira out of the event, UFC fans are outraged for having to pay 75 dollars for a substandard event.
Many fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment with the news. Many questioned why was Beneil Dariush not set up with another fighter. Others question why can’t the UFC reduce their prices for an event that many consider boring.
Fans react to UFC charging ridiculous amount after Charles Oliveira pulls out of UFC 288
UFC 287 was a stacked card that managed to deliver some of the most memorable moments. With an event, so good many fans did not mind paying 100 dollars for the PPV as well. UFC 288 wanted to pull off the same feat by adding some great matchups to the event. With Henry Cejudo making his octagon return against Aljamain Sterling for the bantamweight title the main event is an instant hit. However, the recent developments with UFC 288 left fans disappointed and questioned paying for the event.
Fans were looking forward to the co-main between Charles Oliveira and Beneil Dariush and the square-off between Bryce Mitchell and Jonathan Pearce. However, Jonathan Pearce was out of his bout due to an injury and Mitchell’s opponent is to be announced. Charles Oliveira also had to pull out due to a minor injury and the fight between him and Dariush is to be postponed. With many major fights being replaced or rescheduled, fans are angry for paying 75 dollars for an unsatisfactory event.
Fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment with ESPN and UFC. One fan called UFC 288 an abomination, while some questioned why is no lightweight fighter ready to replace Charles Oliveira. With only a few weeks remaining for the event, will the UFC manage to find some good replacement for the fight or will it do less PPV number? Only time will tell.
