Irene Aldana and Karol Rosa fought in the preliminary card of the UFC 296 PPV. The female bantamweights won the Fight of the Night bonus of the event that Aldana won by unanimous decision. The fight was the bloodiest fight of the event. It even made the UFC commentators plead with Dana White for a $100,000 bonus instead of $50,000.

Aldana and Rosa reunited at the hospital following the grueling fight. The pictures of the two at the hospital went viral on social media. In the picture, Aldana stood beside Rosa, who was in bed. There was evident damage on the faces of the two ladies. Karol Rosa had both her eyes shut due to swelling, whereas Irene Aldana had one of her eyes shut.

With the victory, Irene Aldana bounced back from her disappointing performance against Amanda Nunes at UFC 289 for the title. It was also Nunes’ retirement fight. The loss was Karol Rosa’s second in 2023. It was also her return fight at bantamweight after she went 1-1 at featherweight in 2023. She lost her debut at the division to Norma Dumont but bounced back with a victory over Yana Santos.

Moreover, Lipski submitted Casey O’Neill in the second round of the first fight of the preliminary card. Furthermore, Emmet knocked out Bryce Mitchell in the first round with a vicious right hand.

Emmet made a statement victory in the main card opener of UFC 296. The former interim title challenger found a mark for his right hand in just less than 2 minutes of the fight. The powerful strike put Mitchell out cold and even caused a seizure. Mitchell’s health update was the first question that the UFC CEO, Dana White, faced at the press conference. This was his reply.

He's been released. He's good, you know. Sure, he's not great, but he's good. Yeah, he's healthy. He passed all his tests and he's okay. Good. He's been released from the hospital, and he was like halfway through the show he was released.

The sight of Mitchell out cold inside the octagon was gruesome. In a recent interview with The Schmo, Mitchell already said that his game plan was not to get hit by Emmet’s powerful right hand. Ironically, he got hit by just that.
