Colby Covington wants to fight at Madison Square Garden and promises that Donald Trump will be in attendance. The ‘Chaos’ has been out of action for a long time now and fans are expecting him to come back.
Currently, there are rumors that Colby Covington will get a title shot against Leon Edwards next and in an interview, the fighter claimed that Donald Trump will come to see him live. He said to Submission Radio: “President Trump gave his word. He can’t wait to come to the fight. So, he will be at the title fight, surely.”
Covington added: “Let’s talk about why it deserves to go to the garden because, first off, not only it’s Chaos Covington forth higest gate in the history of Madison Square Garden. It’s just facts, I’m up there above Rolling Stones, Muhammad Ali. It makes sense that it goes to the Mecca.”
Colby explained that he wants to fight at MSG next as he’s one of the biggest superstars to fight in that arena. The fighter compared his numbers with Muhammad Ali and Rolling Stones and mentioned that he brings huge attention to Mecca.
Colby Covington believes UFC wants him as they can’t rely on Jon Jones for UFC 295
While the UFC hasn’t officially confirmed the welterweight title fight between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards, the Chaos is quite confident about it. Recently, in an interview with UFC legend Chael Sonnen, Covington revealed that UFC needs to add more fights to the card so that they can sell PPVs.
He said: “They gotta stack that card. They can’t depend on Jon Jones and you know better than anyone. He’s unreliable. He’s unprofessional. He could get popped for steroids….So, who better than to have his insurance policy than Colby ‘Chaos’ Covington? The guy that just so happens to occupy fourth-highest gate in arena history in Madison Square Garden.”
The fighter took a shot at heavyweight champion Jon Jones for his history of taking PEDs and not being reliable. It seems like despite talks about Islam Makhachev vs Leon Edwards, UFC is willing to put Covington vs Edwards next.
