PFL gained tons of media attention for having Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou under the same roof. The ‘baddest’ men on the planet had a much-anticipated face-off after the event’s completion which fans loved. While the face-off was not overly intense, the competitiveness between both fighters was visible to everyone. So much so that UFC Hall of Famer, Michael Bisping even scored their face-off.

The PFL 5: Regular season last week was attended by former UFC champion and recently signed PFL fighter Francis Ngannou. Ngannou joined the organization after leaving UFC due to contractual disagreements between him and Dana White. The predator flew all the way to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the event. However, current UFC heavyweight champion Jon Jones was also present for the event. He was cornering his teammate Maurice Greene for his heavyweight title bout against Ante Delija. To Jon’s disappointment, Greene lost his bout against Delija. However, everyone at the event was not disappointed as they witnessed Jon Jones and Francis Ngannou have a cold face-off.

Never gonna happen, though. We’re never going to see that fight ever, I don’t think so. I mean, Dana said he’ll never have him back,” added the Hall of Famer. Michael Bisping certainly isn’t the only Hall of Famer who thinks this way. Former double division champion, Daniel Cormier is also of a similar opinion.

However, Jon’s former rival believes that despite the face-off being a huge deal it meant nothing. ” It’s a big deal but it kind of sucks. It just reminds us that it won’t happen. Now that Francis is gone there’s no way it could ever work. There’s no way it could ever be cross promoted to make it happen,” said Cormier on his RC & DC podcast. Daniel also shared that neither of the fighters appeared to be afraid of the other despite their reputations inside the cage.

Francis Ngannou will be making his debut in PFL in 2024 and will also be scouting boxing opportunities. Meanwhile, Jones has made it clear that he will be retiring after his next fight in UFC. He also added that only a fight with Francis Ngannou will give him the needed push to come out of retirement.
