“Very Inspiring” – Francis Ngannou CONGRATULATES Leon Edwards on title win over close friend Kamaru Usman

2022 has had some of the most surprising title fights in UFC’s recent history – at UFC 275, Glover Teixeira was on his way to defend his belt at the ripe age of 42, before being stopped in the last minute by Jiri Prochazka. Last weekend, Israel Adesanya was beaten in the very last round by arch-nemesis Alex Pereira.
Perhaps, the most startling title win, however, was Leon Edwards’s, over Kamaru Usman. With just a single minute to go in the fight against the former welterweight champion, where he had been dominated for the best part of 24 minutes, Leon Edwards pulled out a leg kick from his arsenal to spark the Nigerian out cold, sending the whole arena and the MMA world into a frenzy.
Now, a video of UFC heavyweight champion, and Usman’s close friend Francis Ngannou congratulating Edwards on his momentous feat. He said, “You make me very sad [about Kamaru Usman], but I was very happy because your journey was very inspiring. You know, the way that you get there was very inspiring. [I will] always be with my guy, but I was so happy for you.”
To this, Leon Edwards nodded, saying, “You know how it is.”
The Leon Edwards-Kamaru Usman trilogy looks to be heading to London in March of next year
Given the emphatic nature of Leon Edwards’s win over Kamaru Usman, it seems like Dana White is looking to host a big PPV which will house the fight as the main event. Additionally, the two PPVs in London this year were absolute rollercoasters, with the crowd absolutely going mad at the sight of their beloved English fighters trump over their opponents, especially Paddy Pimblett.
Leon Edwards is a Briton – it only makes sense to host yet another massive card in London. Dana White has spoken about this previously, saying, “How do you not do a [rematch]? F***! Wembley?” It has been three months since White said this, and things have only looked to materialize further. For one, the UFC boss has also been trying to book Khamzat Chimaev vs Colby Covington as the co-main event of the card.
If the London card does work out, we could have one of the biggest PPVs at our hands – one that could smash the records. And, if Edwards manages to beat Usman again, the whole of London, and the United Kingdom will celebrate in unison.
