Khamzat Chimaev has taken over the UFC by a storm and risen to the top of the division in a short time. “Borz” is recognized by greats like Georges St-Pierre and has the legend’s confidence to become a future champion.

No matter where you go in the world, Khamzat Chimaev has become a global star and a fan favorite. The fighter has burst into the MMA scene and now has more fans than a lot of veterans. The Chechen phenom has only five fights in the UFC and is already close to a potential welterweight title shot if he wins his upcoming fight against legend Nate Diaz. GSP believes Chimaev has the potential to become a future champion.

Georges St-Pierre reacts to Khamzat Chimaev’s fight against Gilbert Burns
Khamzat’s last fight was against the amazing former title contender Gilbert Burns, and he went to war against the Brazilian at UFC 273. “Borz” was truly tested for the first time in the octagon and he displayed great heart despite being hit with bombs by Burns. GSP, in the recent fans Q&A session held in Paris, commended the welterweight talent for his fight.
“Yes, Khamzat is very good. He’s got all the skills. He’s very good, and he’s showcased incredible durability and great mental strength in his last fight with Gilbert Burns,” said GSP. “Because he was pushed to the limit, and that’s when you recognize a true warrior, a true champion, than a contender. When he faced those moments of adversity, and some collapsed but some pushed through and succeed,” added the welterweight legend.
Khamzat’s next fight is against Nate Diaz, against whom he is expected to win very comfortably. Chimaev is now one of the most popular fighters in the world and fans are never tired of watching him in the octagon. GSP has also mentioned in the past he would have loved to test himself against someone like “Borz” if he was still fighting.
