“I would hunt them” – Georges St Pierre lists Khamzat Chimaev among fighters who he would fight on return
Georges St Pierre would want to fight Khamzat Chimaev
Georges St Pierre has been long gone from professionally competing inside the octagon but if GSP ever returns, Khamzat Chimaev might want to stay ready. The UFC legend names the fighters he would want to take on if he returns to the UFC octagon.
Georges St Pierre is undoubtedly the greatest welterweight of all time to date. The standards that the Canadian martial artist set for the future of the promotion have really helped the sport grow in many ways. GSP is one of the most dominant fighters in the history of the sport and the fighter gave his fans one last fight in 2017 at UFC 217.
GSP’s last fight was against Michael Bisping for the middleweight title. Georges returned after 4 years to etch his name as one of the very few two-division champions in the promotion’s history. The Canadian fighter might not return to fighting again but if that were to happen, GSP names Khamzat Chimaev along with two other UFC champions that he would want to fight inside the cage. GSP was present at UFC Vegas 58 which took place earlier at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Georges St Pierre would want to fight the best of the best
“If I had to come back and fight today, the three current fighters I would choose to fight, and I won’t because I don’t wanna come back. But if I would have come back, I would want to be the best. So, I would hunt the best guys,” said GSP talking to ESPN MMA in an interview. “Maybe [Kamaru] Usman, [Khamzat] Chimaev, and Khabib [Nurmagomedov] if he would still be there, but unfortunately, for me, for the fans, that’s not gonna happen because I’m done.”
It must be a great honor for someone like Khamzat to have a legend like GSP mention his name amongst two other greatest of all times like Khabib Nurmagomedov and Kamaru Usman. Khamzat is only 11-0 in his professional career and is only 5 fights into the UFC. The fighter has risen to the top of the rankings by beating former title contender Gilbert Burns at UFC 273 which truly made him one of the most exciting fighters in the UFC.
GSP has previously talked about wanting to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov but the fight never came to reality because of Khabib’s early retirement in 2020. Kamaru Usman is currently GSP’s title as the greatest welterweight of all time and many believe that the Nigerian Nightmare will surpass the Canadian in greatness.
