“It’s peace” – Georges St-Pierre detailed his encounter with Nick Diaz at UFC 266
Georges St Pierre and Nick Diaz
Georges St-Pierre talks about Nick Diaz! The 170-pound division in the UFC is arguably one of the most exciting divisions the company has seen. Over the years, the welterweight division has provided fans with some spectacular fights. While many big legends were born through this division, not many compare to St-Pierre’s greatness.
Born in Montreal, Canada, St-Pierre managed to grab the attention of UFC fans around the world. Through his skill and intelligence, St-Pierre stood victor in many of the tests he faced in the octagon. While he dominated the 170-pound division, ‘Rush’ also moved up and laid claim to the middleweight gold when he beat Michael Bisping at UFC 217.
Even though St-Pierre has notable wins against the likes of Carlos Condit, Dan Hardy, and Johnny Hendricks, the entire mixed martial arts fanbase enjoyed his rivalry with Nick Diaz. However, since then, both fighters seemed to have made peace with each other.

The saga began at UFC 266 when Diaz fought Robbie Lawler. Making his return to the cage after a long lay-off, many looked forward to Diaz’s return. Before the fight, the Stockton native encountered GSP backstage. While their previous selves might have gotten into the action, at that moment both fighters showed each other respect.
Detailing the encounter, Georges St-Pierre said, “When it happened, he was walking towards me. And with Nick Diaz, you never know,” St-Pierre told Ariel Helwani. “So, I was, like… I took a stance in a way that I didn’t know if he wanted to come to fight me or if he wanted to talk to me.”
“And when I saw him physically reach out to me with his hand, I was like, ‘Oh OK.’ Now I reach out and I shook his hand. It’s peace, I guess,” concluded St-Pierre.
While the night at UFC 266 did not go Diaz’s way, this moment between the two legends was appreciated by fans all around. What are your thoughts on this interaction between Georges St-Pierre and Nick Diaz? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.
